Pre Wedding Night Ideas at Garthmyl Hall
The hire of Garthmyl Hall is for 48 hours and we understand that couples want to make the most of their time here. Along with the wedding day, the pre-wedding night is the first chance for everyone to meet up, then the post wedding day morning is always a lovely way to say goodbye to everyone. We wanted to share some options and ideas for your pre-wedding night in case you are in need of some inspiration.
There are three bars on site here at Garthmyl Hall (the main bar inside the house, the summer house and the cellar bar), you as the couple have total control in letting us know when you would like them opened, closed (please note we do have a licence until 1am) and which one you would prefer to use for your afternoon and evening. We can also assist you with this; for example if you’re looking at a summer wedding we would suggest the Summer House bar being opened the night before. It is a very light space where people can be seated inside and outside in the gardens on the cast iron tables and chairs. You will also be fully in charge of when you would like us to wrap up and shout last orders, as we know people can get a little excitable and you might all want some beauty sleep before the big day.
Regarding food, you have the option to invite people who’re staying in the Stables and locally to the hall for a meal on the pre-wedding night. You can pay an additional per person charge for us to provide a BBQ in the courtyard next to the Summer House for you and your guests. We will supply everything you need, the tables and chairs where you wish, all tableware required, we will also staff the BBQ, clean up and do all the hard work while you relax. This is a very popular casual option, it gives people the chance to wonder around the gardens at their leisure and enjoy the start of the celebrations.
If the weather isn’t looking that great or you’ve opted for an autumn / winter wedding please don’t worry, we can offer an indoor BBQ option. We will open the main bar inside the house and guests can have a dining area in the ballroom and space to mingle throughout the dining room, sitting room and bar. If this is the case you may want to think about opening the secret cellar bar for guests to enjoy a quick drink downstairs before bed.
If you wished to do something a little more formal we can provide a quote for a two course meal for your guests, again the price would include everything you would need for the set up and the staff required. Then depending on numbers we could set up tables in the ballroom, summer house or the dining room… or all of them. One couple in summer 2019 had separate his and hers dinner parties; the bride, her bridesmaids and close family were in the dining room and then the groom, his groomsmen and family were inside the summer house.
We know that some people might want to go a little further in providing entertainment for the night. We have had couples hiring large garden games and mini golf from The Prop Factory, as well as being such fun for guests they also look great on the lawn too. Another few options are you could hire an outdoor cinema screen and play your favourite film, hire a company to set up clay pigeon shooting or even put on a quiz night for your guests. If you wished to look into any of these things please let us know and we can discuss spaces and can help to coordinate them.
However if you would prefer something low key that’s absolutely fine, The Nag’s Head at the end of the drive is a fantastic option for food (although we highly recommend booking) or there are various takeaways you can collect from at Welshpool or Newtown - both are within 15 minutes’ drive from the hall. We like to think you can bring your own ideas to the hall and we will happily help put them into action for you.
