Exclusive hire wedding venue on Wales / Shropshire border goes from strength to strength

Garthmyl Hall is a beautiful exclusive hire wedding venue on the Powys / Shropshire border, boasting stunning grounds, elegant and stylish décor and an effortless charm - ideal for outdoor ceremonies - a completely unique place!

But what you don’t see underneath the cool, calm exterior, is the vision, dedication and tireless work ethic of Julia Pugh. From the outset, when the mere idea of running a beautiful, relaxed and flexible wedding venue in Wales was still a dream, Julia’s passion and drive never faltered, despite inevitable obstacles and set backs.

When the Pugh family first purchased the Hall in 2015, it was actually a residential building and was in need of a total renovation, inside and out.

“The vision has always been to offer a high-end, luxury wedding venue where every detail has been thought out and where guests want for nothing. Top quality materials, individually styled rooms and perfectly landscaped grounds were all a must, and after a lot of work, including completely gutting, designing and replanting a breath-taking one-acre walled garden, the vision became a reality.

In April 2016 the Hall opened its doors and welcomed it’s very first couple a few months later. It was a massive success, and following on from that success, the ball has just kept rolling, gathering more and more momentum to a point where a wedding is now held at the hall almost every weekend, as well as a whole host of other events such as corporate product launches, birthday parties, charity lunches and a number of in-house events such as gin and jazz evenings and even a Prohibition Party!

But this success rests heavily on the shoulders of Julia Pugh, who’s relentless desire to make sure every couple and every guest has the best day that they possibly can have, and who apparently requires little to no sleep, has undoubtedly made Garthmyl Hall into an incredibly sought after, unique, stylish and friendly wedding venue.

“I love weddings! I have worked in the industry for nine years and just love getting to know a couple from the first enquiry through to the wedding day and for years after – I’m still in touch with a lot of my couples and have become firm friends.” Says Julia. “These past few years have been a dream come true but we don’t intend to relax anytime soon! We are currently renovating the stables into additional luxury cottages so that we can accommodate a further 34 guests per wedding, and we are also building a luxury boat house and jetty to offer couples a unique, more intimate wedding night option!” (Photo: Julia with bride - Rocksalt Photography)
