Winter Wedding Wonderland

Winter weddings can be magical, but if you are planning your own Winter wedding you will know that there are extra things that need to be considered. Here you will read how Garthmyl Hall answers every single one of those concerns and turns them on their head!

1. Photography and lighting

Photography is one of the top concerns when it comes to Winter weddings. From November onwards the light starts to fade dramatically from about 3pm. This will impact on your post ceremony photographs, especially if your ceremony starts later. Ensuring your venue has ample places in which to stage beautiful photos is a must, whether it is finding a room with plenty of light, or embracing the dark and having an indoor shoot with family and friends around a roaring fire. 

At Garthmyl Hall, our Summer House (yes it has Summer in the name but don't let that fool you) has an entire roof of glass - letting light simply flood in. It looks stunning styled with simple branches and plenty of candles, you could even hang fairy lights form the beams for an even more magical feel.

In Winter, candles are you friend. They instantly transform a room, making it more intimate and romantic.

If you do head outdoors for a photo or two, then they can be magical if done right. We have had plenty of evening and night time shoots at the hall and needless to say they have been breath-taking!! It is also a great time of year to get the sparklers out!!!

2. Indoor Space

If the heavens open - and yes they easily could do, you need to make sure that there are plenty of places and rooms to accommodate all of your guests comfortably as people aren't likely to spend very much time outside, if at all.

When you hire Garthmyl Hall you will have access to all the rooms, this includes the Ballroom, Marquee, Lounge, Dining Room, Gentleman's Bar, Cellar Bar and Summer House. With all of these rooms combined you will have more than enough space for all of your guests to feel comfortable, relaxed and most importantly - lovely and warm!!!

3. Winter warmers

Winter provides a fantastic opportunity to get all experimental with your food and drink. We offer very flexible drinks packages and will do our best to accommodate any request. So instead of having sparkling wine for your welcome drink and bottles of wine on the tables, why not go for mulled wine on arrival and bottles of port on the tables?? We could even create your very own personalised Winter cocktail for all of your guests (a particular favourite this year is 'Spicy Plums' - a very tasty mix of Plum gin, Disaronno, tonic, cinnamon and a slice of plum - heaven!).

 

And when your perfect Winter wedding is over and your guests have departed full, merry and happy, you can retire to the Honeymoon Suite and soak for hours in our beautiful slipper bath - bliss!
