Take a Tour

Then and now

We have now been open for over a year and when we look back over old photos from before we purchased the Hall it is truly amazing to see the transformation that it and we have gone through.

We have compiled a few before photos and pared them up with a recent comparative photo to show you just how far we have come.

A Cracking Easter-themed Afternoon Tea

To say that Easter was a rather hectic time at the Hall this year would be an understatement, but who cares when an afternoon filled with fantastic food, clever cocktails and exquisite entertainment was on the cards!

This time round, our afternoon tea coincided with Easter – cue a great opportunity to go all Easter crazy and experiment with pretty pastels, chick and nest centrepieces and plenty of bunnies!

The Ballroom, Dining Room and Marquee were all beautifully dressed, and we were really lucky with the weather – the sun was shining through the panoramic sides of the semi-permanent marquee making the rooms even more beautiful.

The gorgeous food by Tallulah’s Catering featured sandwiches, goat’s cheese tarts and mini burgers, followed by hot crossed scones, rocky road bites, simnel cakes and mango cheesecakes – piped into hollowed out chocolate eggs and cleverly presented in egg boxes.

To make the event different to other afternoon teas, the customary ‘tea’ element was replaced with quirky and colourful cocktails that complimented the food. A jelly-bean infused vodka topped with Prosecco started proceedings, followed by a retro chocolate milk with Baileys and finished with a ‘Drunken Bunny’ – a refreshing gin and elderflower cocktail.

The afternoon was made even more ambient with a fabulous acoustic set performed throughout by the Acoustic Underdogs.

For many, it was the first time that they had been downstairs to try out our new Cellar Bar, opting to finish the evening off in this quirky and atmospheric space.

Wedding Fair

We have recently held our annual Spring Wedding Fair where we invited lots of wonderful suppliers to the Hall to be part of a day where couples and families could come and look around.

We decided to have a catwalk this time with a mixture of wedding wear from: Claire Mischevani, Wedding World, Martin David Groomswear, Moss Bros & Saville Row. It really was impressive to see the different clothing styles for brides, grooms, mother of the brides and bridesmaids. Everyone seemed to enjoy seeing the designs up close.

The hall was busy with lots of couples and families looking round, with our brand new Cellar Bar and fairground inspired garden games by Traditional Fairground Company being definite hits!

Our marquee was the perfect place for other suppliers to showcase their products and services, from exquisite floral centrepieces. by Red Floral Architecture to quirky photo booth by Grin & Share it Photo Booth. There were also some rather spectacular cakes in the Dining Room by Great Exbaketations.

We had live makeup by Great Escape, Pure Beauty, Megan Hewitt and Hair stylists by Hair by Coral, Jane Air & Elin Wyn Thomas on our lovely catwalk models that worked really well, allowing people to see the process as well as the finished look.

Another draw was The Walled garden, which was open for visitors to walk around – especially stunning when the sun eventually came out!

We hope all the visitors and suppliers enjoyed the day just as much as we did!!

Why have your wedding at an Exclusive Hire Wedding Venue?

Your wedding day is the one day where you should be as relaxed as possible, with all of the attention being on you. You shouldn’t have to rush or share that time with anybody else. When searching for the perfect venue for your wedding you should be aware of late check in times, early check out times and the possibility of there being multiple weddings on any given weekend. While this may suit some couples, it isn’t for everyone – why should you feel as though you are on wedding conveyor belt?

lie-in

At Garthmyl Hall we are an exclusive hire wedding venue, which means that there will only ever be one wedding per weekend. You will never feel rushed or that you have to share your day with anyone else. We aim to make you and your wedding guests feel as at home as possible allowing you exclusive use of the Hall and Grounds for the duration of your stay and not imposing early check out times.

An example weekend at Garthmyl Hall could be as follows:

You and up to 24 guests arrive early to the Hall on the Friday afternoon. You can enjoy the wedding preparations with a welcome meal, a BBQ or even afternoon tea with all your nearest and dearest in either the Dining Room or our Rustic Summer House. You can then spend the evening relaxing in either of our fully stocked bars before retiring to our luxury en-suite bedrooms.

The morning of the wedding you will be served breakfast in two sittings so the bride and groom don’t see each other! Then you will enjoy the wedding in your ceremony location of choice followed by drinks and canapés in the stunning Walled Garden. The wedding breakfast will be served in either the Ballroom, Summer House or Marquee, then everyone can enjoy partying until the early hours!

On the Sunday you can enjoy a well-deserved lie in followed by a late brunch or BBQ without worrying about having to leave early. These are just a few suggestions; we are happy to tailor the weekend to suit all your needs. For more information on our exclusive hire wedding venue, contact us.

Congratulations you’re engaged! But what are the next steps??

So Valentine’s Day has just been and if your partner took this traditional and romantic opportunity to pop the question, then congratulations!! But what happens next??

Be prepared to get bombarded with questions ranging from ‘how did he do it’, ‘did you cry’ to ‘so have you set a date yet?’ So you may wish to take the time to enjoy the moment with your partner before the deluge starts.

proposal

The actual big day may be something that you have planned down to the very smallest of details already, or it may have come as more of a shock and you have no set preferences yet. Either way, take the time to discuss the basics with each other so that you are on the same page from the start. It is no good planning a Church wedding with 200 guests if you partner prefers a smaller civil ceremony with just close friends.

If you have had a set venue in mind for your special day, then that can make the planning stage that bit faster, however, keeping your options open to other venues could result in you finding something even better! A fun and more relaxed way to see if a venue is up your street is to attend other events that the venue may host, they are great opportunities to sus out what a venue is really like rather than just seeing the ‘rehearsed viewing’. You can take a look at our event page for some examples and inspiration!

Remember, wedding planning should be enjoyable, have fun with it and keep your options open!

So Valentine’s Day is nearly here…

As you might have guessed, we love Valentine’s Day here at Garthmyl Hall and it is definitely one of our favourite holidays! It is a real festival of romance that celebrates love and relationships, but with all of the hype and heavy commercialisation it is easy to forget its origins – it actually started off as a religious celebration. The Roman emperor Claudius who had banned marriage in order to help his soldiers focus beheaded St.Valentine for his persistence in continuing to marry couples in secret. While in prison he developed feelings for his jailer’s blind daughter and legend says that his love for her was so great that he healed her sight. This is the origin of the phrase, “From your Valentine,” as St. Valentine signed a letter to her this way before his execution.

V

Thankfully these days Valentine’s Day is a little less brutal, usually celebrated by giving gifts such as chocolates or roses, or even popping the question (our favourite!)

If however you are still looking for a way to celebrate this year but are after something a bit different, then we can be of help. Our Fine Dining Event on Saturday 18th February is the perfect opportunity to treat the person you love by indulging in a sumptuous 5-course tasting menu, canapés, cocktails and jazz on arrival and dancing until the early hours. You can even make the evening more romantic by staying over in one of our luxury en-suite bedrooms. Contact Julia Pugh on 07716 763567 or Julia@garthmylhall.co.uk to book your tickets.

Creative Diversity at Garthmyl Hall

We hosted some creatively diverse shoots at the Hall this year to inspire our brides (and grooms) on the versatility of Garthmyl Hall for their special day.

The shoots were done for the publication ‘For the Love of Weddings’ which will be released this month, you can see the spread in my recent blog post! So exciting!
There were two very contrasting themes for the shoots with The Vintage Glam look taking place in the ballroom and The Bohemian Luxe shoot in the summer house, gardens and dining room.

Coco Wedding Venues has written a lovely blog about the shoot and of course stunning pictures from Rocksalt Photography that really showcase all the different features

Take a look for yourself here .
